HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's outdoor track & field team gets their season underway when they host the Juniata Invitational on March 22. Last year, Juniata finished fourth at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship meet and was picked to finish third in this year's Landmark Preseason Poll.

Senior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) looks to cap off an impressive four-year campaign this season. She is the current program record holder in the 1500 and 5000 meter runs and she also holds the Landmark Conference record in the 3000 meter run. Woods returns as the defending champion in the 5000 meter run from last year's championship meet. Junior Courtney Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) claimed victory in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 2013. In the sprints, senior Paula Pryor (Westbrookville, N.Y./Burke Catholic) will prove to be a threat after setting three new school records during the indoor season.

In the field, junior Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) will contend for a title in the throws. At the 2013 Landmark Outdoor Championship meet, Beaver placed third in the shot put. Freshman Katelyn Fisher (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) will look to be a threat in the high jump after winning the event at this year's indoor championship meet.

At the 2013 Juniata College Invitational, Woods picked up a win in the 3000 meter run, while junior Alyssa Cousins (Lemont, Pa./State College Area) came in fourth. Cousins also placed fourth in the 1500 meter run. In the 800, sophomore Jecenia Duran (Temple, Pa./Olley Valley) placed fourth. In the field, Beaver placed third in the hammer throw and fifth in both the shot put and weight throw.

Field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events starting at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the meet, click here.
