Shaffer wins Messiah Invitational heptathlon

GRANTHAM, Pa. -- Juniata College's Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) took first for the second year in a row at the Messiah Invitational track and field heptathlon Friday afternoon. 

Shaffer finished the events with a total 4,042 points, ranking her 18th in the all of Division III this season in the heptathlon.

With personal best markers in the high jump and 200m dash under her belt heading into day one along with 2,564 points earned from day one, Shaffer leapt 15' 18¼" (4.78m) in the long jump to place second among the heptathlon competitors. 

Shaffer finished the 800m run in a personal best 2:36.05 time to place fourth and earned seventh place in the javelin throw with a 77' 9" (23.74m) mark, shattering her personal best of 58' 6".

The Messiah Invitational continues Saturday, April 14 in Grantham, Pa.
