HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team opened their first home match of the spring with a 6-3 defeat to Eastern on Wednesday, picking up wins in #1 singles, #1 doubles, and #2 doubles.
Maggie Ackley and Marta Celebic paired up for the #1 doubles match and came out on top of a close 8-6 match. The same result (8-6) held in the #2 doubles, where Olivia Cooley and Immy Ramsdale secured the victory. Laura Julien and May Nhu Nguyen were swept in #3 doubles.
Ackley went 6-1 in each set in #1 singles to claim her first singles win of the season. Cooley went down 6-3 in set one and then was swept in set two in #2 singles. #3 singles saw Celebic defeated 6-2 and 6-4, while Ramsdale fell 6-2, 6-0 in #4 singles. Julien stayed within three in each set of #5 singles, falling 6-3 and 6-4, and Nguyen was swept in #6 singles.
The Juniata women's tennis team returns to competition tomorrow with a trip to Penn College. The match begins at 2:00 pm.
