Blue Jays Dominate Singles to Beat Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team fell, 6-3 against visiting Elizabethtown, Sunday afternoon.

Jamie Mahigel (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County) and Emma Kramer (Chalfont, Pa. / Pennridge) fell, 8-1 at first doubles but the Eagles were able to pick up two wins at second and third doubles. Emily Dowler (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) and Marilyn Ogof (Lake Ariel, Pa. / -) won, 8-3 at third doubles and Kady Lohr (Shanksville, Pa. / -) and Emily Sarro (Woodside, Pa. / Dallastown) won, 8-6 at second doubles. Going into the singles matches, Juniata was leading, 2-1. 

Mahigel fell, 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, Dowler fell, 6-3, 6-0 at first singles, and Sarro fell, 6-3, 6-0 at fourth singles. The Blue Jays had the lead at 4-2 after the first three singles matches were finished. Lohr picked up a hard-fought match, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at third singles. Ogof then fell, 6-0, 6-4 at sixth singles and Krammer put up a fight but ultimately fell, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6 at fifth singles. 

Women's tennis will travel to Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 21st. The match will start at 3:30 pm.
