FREDERICK, Md.- The Juniata women's tennis team fell, 7-2 at Hood College on Saturday.
Juniata dropped the first two doubles matches before winning at third doubles. Emily Dowler (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) and Jamie Mahigel (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County) fell, 8-2 at first doubles, Kady Lohr (Shanksville, Pa. / -) and Emily Sarro (Woodside, Pa. / Dallastown) fell, 8-1 at second doubles, and Mary Fairfield (Staunton, Va. / Eastern Mennonite HS) and Emma Kramer (Chalfont, Pa. / Pennridge) won in a close 9-7 set at third doubles.
The Blazers got the lead on the Eagles as they won the first three singles matches to be completed. Hood led, 5-1 after doubles and three singles matches. Dowler fell in a close 6-3 set and 6-0 set at first singles, Mahigel fell in two close sets; 6-3, 6-4 and Fairfield fell, 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles. Lohr won Juniata's lone singles match as she defeated her opponent in a close, 6-3, 6-4 match. Kramer played three sets at sixth singles as her match was closely contested. Kramer fell, 6-1, 1-6, and 8-10 at sixth singles. At fourth singles, Sarro was also in a close match but ultimately fell, 3-6, 6-7.
Juniata returns to the court as they host Lock Haven, March 18th at 4 PM.
