Women's Tennis Shuts Down Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, PA – The Juniata women's tennis team (7-4, 1-1 Landmark Conference) dominated the Hoverter Tennis Complex, defeating Penn State Harrisburg (2-8) 9-0 Thursday afternoon. 

In doubles, Heather Waring (San Antonio, TX / John Jay) and Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) defeated Jessy Miller and Shawna Brandt 9-8. Katharine Conklin (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Township) and Cara Stough (Friendsville, MD / Northern Garrett) shutout Steph Harnden and Hilary Mataure 8-0. The final doubles pair of Samantha Hendricks (McVeytown, PA / Mifflin County) and Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, CA / Monta Vista) beat Aiba Diaby and Skylar Buchinski 8-1.

All six players competed in singles as well. Waring defeated Miller 6-2 in both sets, Yurchisin shutout Brandt 6-0 twice, Conklin beat Harnden 6-1 and 6-0, Koh defeated Diaby 6-1 and 6-0, Stough shutout Straw 6-0 both sets and Hendricks also earned two shutouts by defeating Buchinski 6-0 in her sets.

 

Women's tennis will travel to Madison, NJ to battle Drew University (3-3, 0-2 Landmark Conference) in hopes of gaining ground in conference standings. They are currently tied for fourth place with Goucher University (5-4, 1-1).
