Pair of Eagles Receive All-Conference Selections

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's team tied the program record for most single season wins in 2012-2013. This historic run was paced by junior Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas/John Jay) who earned Landmark Conference honors, Tuesday afternoon.

Phillips, who served as the team's lone upperclassman, was a solid presence all year and a great leader for head coach Jason Cohen in the No. 2 position. The junior went 11-8 in 2012-13 and she earned a spot on the second team in singles play. After hovering around .500 all season Phillips made a strong push at the end of the season to finish 11-8. From April 5th until April 14th Phillips did not lose in four consecutive matches.

Waring paired with Phillips to earn first team all-conference honors in double play. The duo went 12-6 overall and 5-1 in Landmark play. Their lone conference loss came against Meaghan Lee and Ariel Lin of Goucher, who also earned first team honors. From April 4th until April 20th, the Eagles' pair did not lose in six consecutive matches.

The pair of Waring and Phillips were the first Juniata doubles team to earn all-conference honors for the program since the 2009-10 season. Waring, a sophomore, and Phillips, a junior, will both return for another season together in 2013-14, and will be looking to build on a historic 2012-13 campaign.
