MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Juniata College's men's and women's tennis teams took the court against Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday, and took a split out of the matches against the Lions. The Juniata women came away with a 9-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg, while the men's team dropped a 7-2 decision.

In the women's match, the doubles pairing of Charlotte Caddick (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and Alex Willis (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Harrisburg Academy) notched its first collegiate win with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles over the Lions' Kristine Surgent and Jackie Gyger. In singles play, senior Hillary Walsh (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) had a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Surgent at no. 6 singles.

The men's team received wins at No. 1 singles from Daisuke Miyakoshi (Hyogo, Japan/Nishinomiyaimadu) and at No. 2 singles Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area). Miyakoshi rebounded from a 5-4 deficit in the first set, advancing to a 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Harrisburg's Nate Tulchinsky. Perow had an easier time with the Lions' Josh Cartmill at No. 2 singles, and cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Juniata men's tennis returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when it hosts Lebanon Valley College at 4:00 p.m. on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts. The women's team hosts Frostburg State on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 12:00 p.m. in Huntingdon.
