Swimming Falls to DII Cal U and Lock Haven at Vulcan Invitational

CALIFORNIA, Pa.- The Juniata swim team closed out the Vulcan Invitational, Saturday morning.

To start off day two, the Eagles took second in the 200yd medley relay. The team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook), Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.), and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) came in with a time of 2:01.78. In the 1,000yd free, White finished third with a time of 11:57.29 and Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) finished eighth with a time of 12:49.03. In the 50yd free, Brubaker and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) tied for seventh with a time of 29.09, Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) finished ninth with a time of 29.14 and Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) finished tenth with a time of 29.90. 

In the 100yd back, Dettelback (1:06.39), Edwards (1:15.56), and Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) (1:18.81) finished fourth, ninth, and tenth, respectively. Sanidad claimed first in the 200yd breaststroke coming in with a time of 2:37.15. In the 200yd free, Sprowls (2:14.96), Brubaker (2:19.29), Diamond (2:22.49), and Pinto (2:36.89) finished fourth, seventh, ninth, and tenth, respectively. In the 200 IM, Sanidad claimed another first place as she clocked in at 2:19.15 while Dettelback finished third coming in with a time of 2:26.26. 

The Eagles closed out the weekend with a fourth place finish in the 800yd free relay. The team of White, Diamond, Canale, and Sprowls finished with a time of 9:10.87.

On the men's side, Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) clocked in at 10:28.05 in the 1,000yd free. Frederick Ginder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior High School) touched the wall at 23.08 in the 50yd free. In the 200yd free, Mona finished with a time of 1:52.64, Ginder finished with a time of 1:52.86, and Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) finished with a time of 2:10.01. Walker touched the wall at 1:00.92 in the 100yd fly.

The Eagles return to the pool February 1st at 1:00 pm as they host Elizabethtown.
