Women's Soccer Drop Late Goal at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. -  The Juniata Women's soccer would struggle to create goal-scoring chances and concede the game's lone goal in the 77th minute to fall to the Cabrini Cavaliers on Saturday evening to end a two-match unbeaten run.

The first half of play saw few scoring chances between the two sides, with Juniata sporting two shots to Cabrini's four. Three of Cabrini's shots came in a three-minute barrage early in the half, forcing Cati Besch to stop three low shots. Helen Chavez missed over the crossbar in the 21st minute for Juniata's first shot, while Alyssa Bui missed wide following a 33rd-minute corner kick.

The second half saw the return of Cabrini's control, with Besch having to save two shots heading for the lower-right corner in the first ten minutes of play. The Eagles registered their shot on target in the 56th minute as Chavez forced the only Cavaliers' save. Cabrini would deliver another trio of shots in the 65th minute that forced another Besch save, and a team save before the third shot sailed over the crossbar. Two more shots followed in the 71st minute before Cabrini breached the Eagles' defenses in the 77th minute. The goal came via a high press that forced a turnover and a shot from 18 yards out. The Cavaliers put the final shot on target in the 82nd minute to force Besch's eighth save of the evening.

The Eagles will continue their push for the first victory of 2022 on Wednesday, September 14, as they travel to Wilkes-Barre to play the King's College Monarchs. Juniata holds a 5-8-2 record against the King's and last met in 2019. They seek their first victory in the matchup since 2016.
