Eagles Dominate in 8-0 Win

Caroline Braas scored a goal against Wilson in an 8-0 win

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team defeated Wilson, 8-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Maya Browning (Boulder, Colo.) scored two goals. Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa. / Moshannon Valley), Elizabeth Bentz (Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern), Caroline Braas (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township), Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick High School), Paige Bulgarelli (York, Pa. / York Suburban), and Amanda Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) each tallied one goal for the Eagles. Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) totaled three assists while Brooke Emge (Waynesboro, Pa. / Shalom Christian Academy) tallied two. Bulgarelli and Fiona McDonald (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) each tallied one assist. 

In the first half, Bulgarelli netted Juniata's first goal within the first ten minutes. Half way through the first half Bulgarelli found Bentz for another Eagle goal. 

In the second half, the Eagles put six more in the back of the net. In the 52nd minute, Walshaw-Wertz found Braas for a goal. Two minutes later, Washaw-Wertz again found Bertrando in which she scored from the middle of the box. In the 76th minute, Emge found Browning for her first goal of the night. Two minutes later, McDonald passed it Adams for another goal. Next, Emge again found Browning for another Eagle goal. To finish off the game, Walshaw-Wertz found Kopacz for the Eagles eighth goal. 

Juniata totaled 57 shots and 12 corner kicks. 

Browning, Bentz, Braas, and Bertrando each tallied their first goal of their career. Bridget Shea (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek HS) combined for their first career shutout. 

Juniata returns to action Wednesday, September 5th. The Eagles will travel to Chatham for a 7:00PM game.
