Freshmen Score Back-to-Back as JC Ends in a 2-2 Draw

THE STORY: Juniata's women's soccer team ended in a 2-2 tie against Saint Vincent on Tuesday, Sept. 27 after Alexis Ulrich (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area HS) and Samantha Bromley (Winder, Pa./Forest Hills) scored for the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED: After scoring in the 25th minute, the Bearcats took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Bearcats had control at the beginning of the second half, taking three shots in the first five minutes.

However, Juniata regained possession and Carly Altenberg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) set up Ulrich for a header that landed in the back of the goal. On Ulrich's first career goal, the Eagles tied the game up in the 52nd minute.

Bromley then followed suit, scoring her first career goal after the rebound and gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

After Bromley's goal, the Bearcats outshot the Eagles 3-1 until they scored in the 73rd minute from 25 yards out, tying the game back up at two.

OVERTIME PLAY: Aubrie Christensen (Suwanee, Ga./Manheim Township) led Juniata's offense in overtime, taking three of their four shots. Devin Kos (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) tallied Juniata's fourth overtime shot with thirty seconds left; it was saved by Saint Vincent's goalkeeper.

This is the Eagles' fourth overtime game of the 2016 season and their third tie.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Shannon Kriz (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) made her first appearance in goal this season, playing all 110 minutes for the Eagles. Kriz marked nine saves, one at the end of the second half and two in overtime, keeping the Bearcats at two goals.

THE RECORD: The Eagles now sit at 3-3-3 on season, while Saint Vincent moves to 1-3-4.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Juniata will travel to Catholic for their second conference game on Saturday, Oct. 1. They will play at 1 p.m.
