Juniata women’s soccer rolls in at no. 7 on preseason poll

Huntingdon, Pa. -- Juniata College's women's soccer team was voted to finish the 2012 season in seventh place in the Landmark Conference according to the league's preseason poll released Thursday afternoon.

Juniata, who finished the 2011 season with a 5-9-3 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in the Landmark, earned 15 points in the voting, just one point shy of No. 6 Goucher College.

The University of Scranton took five first-place votes and 55 points for the top slot in the poll, while Catholic clinched the No. 2 spot with two first-place votes and 48 points. 

Drew University and Susquehanna University each brought in 31 points to result in a tie for third, and Moravian College earned 21 points in the voting for fifth.

The Eagles open up competition at Winton Hill Field against Thiel College on Saturday, September 1, at 1:00 p.m.
