Softball Selected Seventh in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata softball team was selected seventh in the Landmark Conference preseason poll.

Moravian takes the top spot in the preseason poll as they are seated first with 57 points, behind them is Scranton (43), Catholic (32), Susquehanna (31), Elizabethtown (14), Drew (12), and then Juniata with seven points.

This season the Eagles are returning three seniors, among them first team All-Conference selection, Alyssa Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College). Shedlock was also named All-ECAC honorable mention last season. Last season, Shedlock had a batting average of .376 and 20 runs batted in. She had a career high of 44 hits and 29 runs scored to go along with a .953 fielding percentage on the season. Shedlock hit ten doubles, three triples, and a home run.  Shedlock hit her 100th career hit against Dickinson. The other seniors include, Anna Baran (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) and Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central)

The Eagles are also brining back three juniors, among them second team All-Conference selection, Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain). Clark had a career high of 21 runs scored and 39 hits. Clark led the team in runs batted in with 32.  She was second on the team with a .402 batting average to go along with five home runs. Clark also had a .996 fielding percentage and turned a double play. The other returning juniors include, Maggie Peck (Philipsburg, Pa. / Philipsburg Osceola) and Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity High School). The three returning sophomores are; Natalie Krug (Northern Cambria, Pa. / Northern Cambria), Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School), and Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area)

Juniata will start off their season in Florida for spring break. The Eagles open up play on Sunday, March 8th against Montclair St. at 9 AM.
