Softball Falls to Millsaps and Salve Regina

CLERMONT, Fla.- The Juniata softball team dropped a 3-2 decision against Millsaps and a 10-2 decision against Salve Regina on a hot day at Legends Way Complex.

The Eagles got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) was walked then Maggie Peck doubled to center field advancing Shedlock to third. Shedlock later advanced across home plate on a throw. Millsaps went on to score two in the top of the second to take the lead, 2-1. 

In the third, Juniata tied up the game, 2-2. After a Shedlock walk, Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) doubled to center field allowing Shedlock to run home. Millsaps scored another run in the fifth to take the lead and win the game, 3-2.

Game two against Salve Regina, the Eagles once again get on the board first as they scored in the top of the first. Peck reached first on a fielder's choice and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) doubled to right center and Peck crossed home. The Seahawks scored a run of their own in the bottom of the first. Salve Regina scored another run in the second and another in the third to take the lead, 3-1. 

In the fourth, JC cut the Seahawks lead, by scoring another run. Clark started off the inning with a single to center field. Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) then doubled to right field, advancing Clark to third. Amy Chen (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) singled right field advancing McLeod and sending Clark home. The Seahawks went on to score four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead, 7-2. Salve Regina added on another three in the sixth to win, 10-2. 

Juniata will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow as they face St. Lawrence at 9AM and MCLA at 1:30PM.
