Decker Named Landmark Pitcher of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After pitching a three hit shutout of conference rival Catholic University Sunday, junior Kelsey Decker (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) was named Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced Monday.  This is Decker's second weekly honor from the Landmark.  She was the last Eagle to receive recognition and the second in program history to earn the honor more than once.

"Kelsea had a fantastic week on the mound and at the plate," said first year head coach Sam Kszepka.  "She has truly stepped up her game this year, especially over the last week.  I'm ecstatic that the hard work is paying off for the team this year, not just in wins, but in recognition by the conference as well."

Decker went 3-0 and helped lead the Eagles to two wins over conference opponents.  She finished the week with 15 strikeouts, allowing just three earned runs over 18.2 innings pitched.  The shutout was her first of the year and the fourth in her career.

Juniata hosts Dickinson this coming Thursday, April 11 for a doubleheader that starts at 3 p.m.  The Eagles are 7-9 overall and 4-6 against nonconference opponents.
