Eagles Sweep Blue Jays in CVC Action

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #3 Juniata men's volleyball team moves to 5-1 in Continental Volleyball Conference play after a 3-0 victory over visiting Elizabethtown Wednesday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.

The Eagles came out locked in, scoring the first five points, which included a block by Luke Hoffman and Max Cooley, a pair of Tyler Goldsborough aces, a kill from Hoffman, and a bad set. Juniata continued to control the set, as an error, a block by Hoffman and Maxwell Barr, and a kill by Barr pushed the JC advantage back to eight at 16-8. Juniata eventually took set one on a block by Reese Ganter and Hoffman, 25-13.

Set two saw the Blue Jays settle in and manage to keep it tight late, tying the game at 21-21. Two errors and a block by Goldsborough and Hoffman pushed the Eagles to set point. Elizabethtown managed to fight off one point before a Goldsborough kill ended set two, 25-22.

The Eagles built a 7-1 lead early in the third set as Hoffman tallied two kills and two aces during the run. The Blue Jays fought back and eventually whittled the Juniata score down to two at 17-15. Goldsborough, Barr, and Cooley notched a kill each to push the lead back to five, 20-15. Juniata maintained an advantage the rest of the way, as a Ganter kill edged the Eagles to match point, and Drew Hunker ended the match with an ace.

The Eagles return to action Friday in more CVC action as they host Kean at 7:00.
