Men's Volleyball Picked First in Continental Volleyball Conference Coaches Poll

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's volleyball team was picked first in the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Preseason Poll. Juniata was picked first, but Rutgers-Newark had the most first-place votes with four. Reigning conference champion Southern Virginia was picked second in the poll.

Head Coach Glenn DeHaven returns all seven starters from a team that led the league with 26 wins last season and are the 2023 preseason favorites with 58 points and three first-place votes. All-American middle Kevin Duffy III will lead the Eagles. The graduate student recorded 247 kills while leading the conference in hitting percentage (.447) and adding 79 total blocks. Fellow middle Luke Hoffman also finished with 79 blocks, making the Eagles the only team with two players in the seven of the league. Tyler Goldsborough led the team with 296 kills last season as a sophomore and had a conference-high 44 service aces. Will Phelan, who totaled 227 kills last year, is another player in a deep attack rotation. The player that will benefit from the depth of hitters is setter Reese Ganter, who finished with 905 assists last season and averaged 1.45 digs per set. Top newcomers include Maxwell Barr and Tyler Phillips.

 

The Eagles will open the season on the road against Nichols on the campus of SUNY Poly Saturday, January 20th at 4:00.
