Men’s Volleyball Picked #1 in AVCA Preseason Poll

LEXINGTON, KY- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2015 Coaches Preseason Poll earlier today. The Juniata men's volleyball team has been selected as the top team overall out of 15 schools that were ranked.

The Eagles received 223 total points and finished three points ahead of Stevens Institute of Technology.  Juniata tallied six first-place votes and tied with defending National Champion Springfield College which was selected third. The Ducks had four first-place votes.

Juniata went 29-5 last season, falling to the Pride in the NCAA Division III National Championship match last April at Memorial Gymnasium. Juniata returns five starters from last year's team that recorded a school record for wins while winning their second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference title.

Two ranked teams will come to Memorial Gymnasium on January 23 and 24 when the Eagles host the Juniata Invitational to begin the 2015 season. Juniata plays #10 Elmira on Friday and #13 Baruch on Saturday.
