LANGHORNE, Pa. – No. 2 Juniata College extended its win streak to three Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) win over Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) rival Cairn University Saturday afternoon.  Juniata (18-3) is now 5-0 against CVC opponents.  Cairn dropped to 9-11 overall, 0-5 in conference.

"We played a good consistent game," said head coach Pat Shawaryn.  "We were in system.  When we're in system, we're very dangerous and that proved it."

The Eagles hit .368 overall as team, siding-out over 70 percent of the time.  Junior Mark Feiler (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore Matthew Kinnebrew (Ashburn, Va./Stonebridge) tied with a match-high nine kills.  Feiler also earned a match-high eight digs.  Juniata out-performed the Highlanders in every defensive and nearly every offensive category.

In the first set, they hit .632 as a team.  With the match tied 6-6, the Eagles went on a 6-0 run with senior Ross Madden (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) behind the service line.  They wouldn't let Cairn any closer than four points for the remainder of the set.

The Highlanders came out on fire in set two, jumping to a 10-6 lead.  Juniata responded by going on a 6-2 run to take the lead 12-11.  Cairn would tie the set twice before the Eagles began to pull away for the win.  Set three was competitive early with neither team leading by more than two points until a kill by Feiler helped the Eagles turn the tide.  Once they pushed ahead by five, the Eagles never looked back and cruised to the win.

Juniata gets a short break and then more time to train in the gym before heading down to Virginia.  They face-off against Eastern Mennonite on Friday, March 21 and then Marymount University on Saturday, March 22.
