Walters Wins Weight Throw, Men's T&F Earn Eighth at Landmark Indoor Champs

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- Barrett Walters' win in the weight throw highlighted the day for the Juniata men's track and field team at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. 

The team finished in eighth place with 26.5 points, a 6.5-point improvement from last year.  

Walter's mark of 15.03 meters on his last attempt in the finals earned him the win and ten points in the weight throw. The win earned ten points towards the team score. Logan Hackenberg also threw in the event, finishing in 23rd place with a mark of 8.79 meters.  

Walters also earned a point with his eighth-place mark of 12.22 meters in the shot put, setting a personal best in the process. His previous-best mark was 12.01 meters, set at the Blue and White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall earlier this month. 

Lincoln Riddle posted his 52.34 in the 400 meters to earn fourth place in the event and five points. 

Colson Lewis snagged the last spot in the 60-meters with his preliminary heat time of 7.08. Isaiah Huffstutler also logged a time in prelims, finishing in 16th place with a time of 7.28. 

Lewis moved up a spot in the finals with a time of 7.13 to earn two points. 

He also raced in the 200 meters, finishing in tenth place with a new personal best time of 23.23. His previous best time was 23.52, set at January's Mini-Dip Invitational at Franklin & Marshall.  

Gavin Robb set a pole vault personal record in back-to-back weeks, as he earned sixth place and 3.5 points with a mark of 3.65 meters. His previous best mark was 3.50 meters, set at last weekend's Susquehanna Tuneup.  

Caleb Massare competed in the long jump, finishing in 14th place with a mark of 5.70 meters. 

Augie Secco set a mile time of 5:04.30 to earn 18th place in the event.  

Juniata competed in three relay events, including the 4x200 meters, the 4x400 meters, and the distance medley. 

The team's best performance of the day came in the 4x200 meters. Riddle, Huffstutler, Lewis, and Massare earned three points with a sixth-place finish, completing in the event in 1:35.85, a 0.33-second reduction on the season-best time. 

Riddle, Massare, Lewis, and Ivan Foreman were eighth in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:50.47. The team's previous best time this year was 4:00.31, set at January's Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh.  

Secco, Foreman, Robb, and Ellis Kline earned eighth in the distance relay with a time of 12:21.73.  

Members of the men's track and field team will make a final push at National Championship qualification as the team ventures to the South Region Final Qualifier at Shenandoah this Saturday, March 2nd.
