Men’s Track and Field Takes on Frostburg Invitational

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Eagles put their best foot forward at the Frostburg Invitational this weekend, having several top finishers.

Freshman Evan Ulrich (Homer, NY/Homer) placed second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:16.19. Alexander Jones (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) was just behind in third place (4:17.66) and Andrew Meci (Woodsktock, NY/Onteora) in fifth (4:22.75). In the 800-meter, Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) ran a first place time with a 1:59.38. Jones placed 5th in the race (2:06.67) with Ulrich just behind in 6th (2:07.9). 

Nick Simpson (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) ran a time of 15:56.58 in the 5000-meter race, placing first. Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) placed 6th (16.52.52).

In the field, Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) placed second in the hammer event reaching 45.44 meters and third in shot-put (12.52).  Paterno also placed fourth in discus with a throw of 35.76 meters with Daniel Fernandez following behind in fifth, throwing a distance of 32.75 meters.
 
Nathan Chavis (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) placed second in pole vault, reaching 3.65 meters and Zach Greenawalt (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area) finished in 3rd (3.50).
 
The Juniata men's track and field team will compete again next week at the Messiah Invitational on April 6, 7, and 8.
