HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team picked up their first Landmark Conference win of the season as they defeated Elizabethtown, 5-4.
William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Jackson Burnell (Bedford, Texas / L.D. Bell HS) won, 8-4 at first doubles then Ezenna Emuka (Houston, Texas / William B. Travis HS) and Keisuke Maeda (Tokyo, Japan / Nihon University) fell, 8-2. Abinav Vadivelou and Anatole Lutun (Fismes, France / HEI Lille) picked up the Eagle's second win at third doubles. The team won, 8-7 (7-5). After the doubles matches, Juniata led, 2-1.
Vadivelou won by retirement at third singles, Burnell fell, 6-1, 6-2 at second singles, and Michelson won, 6-2, 6-4 at first singles. The Eagles continued to lead the Blue Jays, 4-2 after the first three singles matches. Maeda fell, 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles, and Emuka fell, 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles. Lutun had an impressive, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
Second-year head coach Kenneth Michaud earned his first Landmark Conference win.
Men's tennis will travel to Susquehanna, Saturday, April 24th at 1:00 pm.
