Six Total Men’s Swimming Records Fall during Landmark Championship Weekend

BOYDS, Md.- The Juniata men's swim team closed out the three-day Landmark Championship weekend held at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center. The Eagles totaled 56 points to take seventh place. 

To start off the final day of finals, Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) became the first Juniata men's swimmer at Landmark Championships to finish top-three in an event. Mona also re-broke the Juniata record in the 1650 freestyle touching the wall at 16:45.49 to claim third place. 

In the 100 free, Frederick Ginder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior High School) also re-broke a Juniata record, after he originally broke the record during this morning's prelims. Ginder finished 12th, clocking in at 48.41. 

In the 200 fly, Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) took off two seconds from his morning swim. Walker took 12th coming in with a new Juniata record of 2:11.88.

The Eagles broke the following records over the course of the three day meet; 200 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 400 IM, 50 freestyle, and 500 freestyle, and the 1650 freestyle. 

In total between the men's and women's team, the Eagles posted 31 individual personal best times over the weekend. 

The final standings:

  1. Catholic: 939 points
  2. Susquehanna: 637.5 points
  3. Drew: 541.5 points 
  4. Scranton: 535 points 
  5. Elizabethtown: 249 points 
  6. Goucher: 177 points 
  7. Juniata: 56 points
