Madzimbamuto Named Rookie of the Year, Doherty Joins Him with All-Conference Honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer standouts Malvin Madzimbamuto (Oftringen, Switzerland / St Thomas More) and Henry Doherty (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) have been named to the Landmark Conference's first and second teams.

Madzimbamuto has been named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and made the all-conference first-team as a forward. The Switzerland native saw the field in all 15 games for the Eagles, starting 13 of those. He was a force at the front line all season as he totaled 24 shots, 12 shots on goal, and three goals, with one being a game-winner against Moravian. He also tallied a goal against King's, which helped the Eagles walk away victorious once again, 2-0. Susquehanna was also a victim of a Madzimbamuto goal, although the Eagles fell 5-2. He is the fifth Juniata men's soccer player to make the all-conference first team and the first since 2014.

Doherty was named to the Landmark Conference Second Team as a defender. A four-year member of the team, Doherty played 13 out of 15 games, starting 12 of those. As a defender, he amassed seven shots and four shots on goal. He scored off a corner to help JC defeat McDaniel 2-0. His header against Wilkes tied the game 2-2 before the Colonels struck late as the Eagles dropped a hard-fought 3-2 match. Doherty led a historically strong Juniata defense as the team tied for the most shutouts in program history since 2013, as well conceding the third-fewest amount of goals in a season at 22.

This 2021 Juniata men's soccer team has earned the most conference points since the 2014 squad.
