Men's Soccer Wraps Up Season with Senior Day Game

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The men's soccer team lost 2-1 in double overtime to Catholic on Saturday. The team celebrated their seniors prior to the game. 

The Cardinals got nine shots off in the first half while the Eagles were only able to get one. JC's only shot led to their only goal. Braden Whisler (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) played a great ball from a corner kick that went directly to Blake Cassel's (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) head. Cassel knocked it into the goal in the 38th to prove the Eagle's dominance in the first half.   

Juniata lost their lead in the second half as Catholic tied the game in the 49th minute. Malvin Madzimbamuto (Oftringen, Switzerland / St Thomas More) took a shot in the 56th minute, Henry Doherty (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) had a shot hit the crossbar in the 72nd followed by Whisler getting two shots off in the 72nd minute. 

The Eagles were unable to get a shot in the first overtime period but were able to hold the Cardinals back from their five shots.

The second overtime period saw one shot from Sean Weiland (Frederick, MD / Governor Thomas Johnson High School) in the 103rd minute that the Cardinal goalie punched it up and over the net. Catholic scored in the 106th minute to get their second goal of the game to win in sudden death. 

Arun Subramanian (Metuchen, N.J. / Metuchen HS) managed eight saves throughout the entire game. 

The men's soccer team honored their three seniors prior to kickoff: Peter Kruse, Henry Doherty, and Nicholas Sinapius.
