River Hawks Big First Half Powers Them Past Eagles

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team couldn't keep pace at Susquehanna as they lost, 5-2, Wednesday evening at Sassafras Field. 

Emmet Young (Swarthmore, Pa. / Strath Haven) scored off an assist from Blake Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) just over a minute into the game, but it was all River Hawks from there. 

The hosts scored four goals in the next 17 minutes as they took a commanding 4-1 lead, which they maintained into halftime. 

The team mustered five shots apiece in the opening half. 

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Malvin Madzimbamuto (Oftringen, Switzerland / St Thomas More)pulled one back for the Eagles. 

Susquehanna added one more in the 75th minute to complete the scoring. 

The teams again took the same number of shots in the second half, with each team taking six.  

Arun Subramanian (Metuchen, N.J. / Metuchen HS) totaled three saves in goal for JC.  

Juniata returns to action this Saturday at Goucher. The kickoff is at 4:00.
