Sinapius's First Half Goal Pushes Eagles Past Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team emerged with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Penn College, Tuesday evening at UPMC Field. 

The first half was a back-and-forth affair as the Wildcats held a narrow 6-5 advantage in shots, and each team managed three corners in the first half. 

Nicholas Sinapius (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville) provided the sole goal of the game in the 34th minute. Emmet Young (Swarthmore, PA / Strath Haven) tapped a ball out of the air towards Sinapius, who brought the ball down with his chest at the top of the 18 before smashing the ball into the top left corner. 

The second half was more of the same, with Penn College holding a narrow 8-6 edge in shots but a 5-0 edge in corners.  

Arun Subramanian (Metuchen, N.J. / Metuchen HS) made six saves in net for JC and notched his second shutout of the year. 

The Eagles return to action this Saturday at home against Elizabethtown. Kickoff at 4:00.
