Men's Soccer Plays Scoreless Draw at Drew

MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata men's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw on the road at Drew University Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium. 

The Rangers held a 7-0 edge in shots in the first half, with Axel Grater (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin HS) making two stops to keep Drew at bay. 

The Rangers totaled 10 shots to the Eagles' four, with Grater making four stops. 

Alvin Alexander Fuentes (Redwood City, Calif. / Sequoia High School) put a shot on frame in the 56th minute, and Blake Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) headed a shot wide of the goal four minutes later. In the 63rd minute, Malvin Madzimbamuto (Oftringen, Switzerland / St Thomas More) got a shot off and forced the Ranger keeper to make another stop. 

In the 78th minute, Cassel had the final JC shot of the half, but again the Ranger keeper stopped it as the game went to overtime. 

Henry Doherty (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) nodded a ball towards the Ranger goal three minutes in, forcing the Ranger keeper to make another save. 

In the second OT, Peter Kruse (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) had a header on goal in the final two minutes, and the Drew keeper made his fifth save of the game. 

Grater finished the game with a season-high seven saves as he got his second clean sheet of the season. 

Juniata will take on Scranton, next Saturday with kickoff at 4:00.
