Men’s soccer comes up short in 2-1 OT loss

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata men's soccer failed to capitalize in overtime and were handed a 2-1 loss by Drew University, Saturday afternoon at Winton Hill Field.

David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) took only one shot Saturday afternoon and it was right on target, as the senior was the lone Juniata (5-7-1, 1-5-0 Landmark) goal scorer, assisted by senior Luke Waddell (Muncy, Pa./Muncy). He posted the goal in the 65th minute to equalize the game at one apiece.

However, just 4:32 into overtime, the Eagles gave up a goal at the hands of junior Ranger Sam Nepveux, assisted by sophomore Will Sanchez to end the contest.

The first Drew (13-2-0, 4-1-0 Landmark) goal came just five minutes into the match when sophomore Ricardo Castro took a corner that found the head of sophomore Matthew Gragnano for his fifth goal this season.

Junior goalkeeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) played all 94:32 for the Eagles and charted 11 saves. Drew keeper Rich Boland posted three saves in the match and allowed the lone Juniata goal.

The Eagles play at home next Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 3:00 p.m. against Misericordia University.
