Juniata men’s soccer shut out in 1-0 battle with Susquehanna

Huntingdon, Pa. -- Juniata College men's soccer was shut out 1-0 in a close match with Susquehanna University Tuesday afternoon in their last home Landmark Conference match of the season at Winton Hill Field. 

Brandon Kates had the game-winner for the Crusaders, connecting with Brandon Eisenhart in the 35th minute of the first half.  

Juniata created offensive opportunities throughout the entire match.  David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) had four shots while Jeffrey Gring (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had two. 

The Crusaders outshot the Eagles 12-8 and had a 3-2 edge over the Eagles in corner kicks. 

Juniata keeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) played all 90 minutes in goal, recording five saves. B.J. Merriam defended the net for the Crusaders for the full 90 minutes and recorded zero saves.  

Juniata (8-7) will play their last Landmark Conference match at Scranton University this Saturday, Oct. 23 in Scranton, Pa. scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time.
