Green Terror Surge Past the Eagles

Green Terror Surge Past the Eagles

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Juniata men's lacrosse team played at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland on Friday night and lost by a score of 19-7.

A very skilled McDaniel team got off to a hot start and opened the game with seven straight unanswered goals in the first period. They reached an 11-0 lead in the second period before the Eagles were able to respond with a goal from senior attacker Aiden Duran. Later in the period sophomore midfielder Brandon Simonini netted his first of three goals on the night. It was a 12-2 match at the halftime break.

Senior and leading goal scorer Kolton Black found the back of the net in a third period controlled by the Green Terror, and Simonini netted his second of the night with 47 seconds left in the period. It was a 17-4 deficit for the Eagles heading into the final period.

Despite playing from behind all game, the Eagles responded well in the fourth period, winning it 3-2. Simonini's third, Black's second, and junior midfielder Vincent Bechler's first goal gave the Eagles a boost in the fourth, bringing the game to a 19-7 final.

Beaux Wojciechowski, Black, Duran and Bechler contributed assists on the day and goalie Griffin Umstead made 18 saves on his first start of the season.

The Eagles will look to bounce back at home when they play Keuka College on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
