Eagles Declaw Wolverines, Advance to ECAC Semifinals

DOVER, Del.- The Juniata field hockey team defeated the Wolverines of Wesley College, Wednesday evening in the first round of the ECAC Championship.

The game was very low action as each team took two shots apiece. The Eagles were the only ones able to capitalize on a shot as they scored the game winning goal in the second quarter. 

Two minutes into the second quarter, Juniata was awarded a penalty corner. Madison Miller (York, Pa. / West York) passed the ball from the right side of the arch to Catherine Lanigan (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany HS) who tapped the ball in past the Wesley goalie. Wesley took their lone two shots in the third quarter but were unable to score as one shot went wide and the other was stopped by Hannah Moore (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) for a defensive save. 

Juniata held a 6-5 edge in corners over Wesley. 

The Eagles will travel to Lebanon Valley this Saturday at 11:00 am for the ECAC semifinal round.
