Blue Jays Push Past Eagles in Double OT

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell, 2-1 in double overtime to Elizabethtown at Wolf Field, Saturday.

Juniata got on the board first, Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) knocked in the ball from India Greenbury (Bristol, England / Clifton College) from the left post. The Blue Jays controlled the second quarter, alllowing the Eagles one shot. G. Alexander took a shot in the 27th minute but it was blocked. At the half, Juniata lead Elizabethtown, 1-0. 

Catherine Lanigan (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany HS) opened up the shooting for the Eagles in the third quarter but her shot was saved by the Blue Jays. In the 53rd minute, Elizabethtown tied things up at 1-1 forcing the teams into overtime. The Eagles opened up overtime with possession first as Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) took a shot after a corner but it was blocked. Etown held a 4-2 advantage in shots in the first overtime. 

The two teams were forced into yet another overtime. Thirty-four seconds into the second overtime, Elizabethtown scored to end the game, 2-1. 

Kuszmaul tallied a defensive save in the contest and Nicole Piccioni (Richfield, Pa. / Midd-West) made 11 saves in goal.
