Four Goal Second Half Pushes River Hawks Past Eagles

Grace Alexander scored two goals in the Eagles loss at Susquehanna.

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell, 4-2 at Susquehanna, Wednesday evening.

Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) scored both of the Eagle's goals. Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville) recorded five saves in the cage. 

The Eagles got off to a strong start as they scored in the first three minutes of the game. After a penalty corner, G. Alexander scored Juniata's first goal. In the 17th minute, G. Alexander scored the Eagles second goal. Juniata held the ball most of the first half as they had seven penalty corners and took five shots. 

At the start of the second half in the 38th minute, Susquehanna scored their first goal of the game. Three minutes later after a penalty corner, the River Hawks scored again to tie up the game, 2-2. In the 54th minute, the River Hawks struck again to take the lead. Two minutes later, Juniata had their chance to tie up the game, after an Eagle corner, Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) took a shot but it was saved by the Susquehanna goalie. In the 59th minute, the River Hawks extended their lead further as they defeated the Eagles, 4-2. 

The River Hawks held a slight edge on the Eagles in shots, 12-11. Juniata held an edge on penalty corners, 11-8. 

Juniata returns home Saturday, October 13th as they face conference foe, Catholic at 1PM.
