Field hockey sneaks out 3-2 win thanks to Dahmus

DALLAS, Pa. – It was Emma Dahmus' (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) turn to be the saving grace for the Juniata field hockey team on Saturday afternoon against King's College in the Misericordia Tournament, as she scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute to secure a 3-2 win for the Eagles.

Sara Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), who was the first Eagle to score and did so in the 18th minute on a pass from Jill McNeish (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area), also assisted Dahmus' goal.

Freshman Allison Groft (Hanover, Pa./Southern Western) got her first collegiate goal in the 38th minute off a pass from Dahmus.

Juniata's Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) played all 70 minutes protecting the cage for the Eagles and denied six Monarch shots.

Juniata had 14 penalty corner opportunities to King's eight and both teams took 15 shots.

The Eagles will take on No. 5 Messiah College at Goodman Field at Knox Stadium on Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m.
