Juniata field hockey drops 2-0 decision to No. 5 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. -- Juniata College field hockey yielded a pair of goals amidst a 17-shot barrage from The College of New Jersey, and dropped a 2-0 decision to fifth-ranked TCNJ on Sunday afternoon at Lions' Stadium.

TCNJ (15-2) netted what proved to be the game-winner with just 28 seconds remaining in the first half on a shot by Leigh Mitchell off a penalty corner.  Kathleen Notos was credited with the assist on the marker.

The Lions chalked up an insurance goal in the game's 60th minute, when Notos beat Howard for her first goal of the season off a feed from Caitlyn Jenkins. 

TCNJ outshot Juniata 17-6, and enjoyed a 13-5 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

Juniata (10-5) goalie Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded six saves in the Eagle cage, while Caroline Phillips (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and Meg McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) each earned a defensive save behind Howard.

TCNJ's Shannon Syciarz was credited with two saves in the Lions' goal.

Juniata will travel to Carlisle, Pa., this Wednesday, Oct. 26, to face Dickinson College. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
