HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Between adjusting to international rules and playing three games in as many days, Juniata College field hockey is still looking for its first win on its three-day exhibition swing through southern Ontario. 

The Eagles dropped a 3-1 decision on Monday evening to the University of Waterloo, in a game shortened due to darkness. Newcomer Jacqueline Hoozemans (Delgauw, The Netherlands/Stanislaus College) scored the lone Juniata goal, with an assist by freshman Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).

The two Juniata goalies, senior Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) and sophomore Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) split time in the cage, with Nugent playing all of the first half.

Juniata enjoyed a little more offensive success on Tuesday afternoon, but fell to the University of Guelph, 4-2, in Guelph, Ontario. 

After Guelph grabbed an initial 1-0 lead, Juniata responded with a goal by Suzi Lindquist (Richmond, Va./Henrico) off an assist by Brittany Kauffman (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove). Sara Pomanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) tacked on a second goal with Kyra Lehmann (Calverton, N.Y./Riverhead) providing the assist.             

"We're still trying to find what combinations work best for us," said Juniata assistant coach Kim Wagner. "It's a great way to prepare ourselves for the tough schedule ahead."

Juniata wraps up the three-game trip on Wednesday afternoon against the University of Western Ontario.
