Amrod, MgGlone, Price named All-Region in field hockey

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Three members of the Juniata College field hockey team were named to the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All South Atlantic Region, released Monday.

Junior forward Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) and sophomore back Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) earned first team selections while sophomore forward Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) was named to the second team.

Price was selected to the First-Team All-Landmark Conference scoring 17 goals and recording six assists for 40 points. For her efforts, she was named as the Offensive Player of the Year, as voted upon by the coaches. She was a second team representative in 2008 and 2007 as well as being named the Rookie of the Year in her first year.

MgGlone earned the Defensive Player of the Year in the Landmark Conference as well as a repeat first team honoree. She scored three goals and had three assists offensively for the Eagle but more importantly came away with 10 defensive saves on the season. In addition to being a part of the first team in her rookie season, McGlone helped Juniata earn back-to-back Rookie of the Year Awards when she won in it in 2008.

Amrod was also selected to the First Team All-Landmark Conference, scoring a team high 18 goals and nine assists for 45 points. This was her first season being named to an All-Conference team, let alone the South Atlantic Region Second Team.

The Eagles finished their season 17-4 overall, going undefeated in conference games, 6-0. They lost in the first round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships to the tenth ranked Hornets from Lynchburg College, 5-3.
