Blue Jays Ground Eagles, JC Will Play Loser of Catholic v Etown Saturday in Elimination Game

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The #5 seeded Juniata baseball team lost, 9-4, on the road at #3 seeded Elizabethtown, Thursday afternoon at Kevin S. Boyd Stadium. The Eagles now await the loser of the #2 Catholic/Elizabethtown game that will occur Saturday morning and will play in an elimination game Saturday at Catholic, who is hosting the three-team pod. 

Ryan McClain (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) started the game off with a walk and Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County High School) followed by mashing a double to left which scored McClain and gave JC an early 1-0 lead.  The Blue Jays quickly countered, tying the game on a sac fly and taking the lead on a two-run double to left-center as they led 3-1.  

Jack Dovidio (Glenmore, Pa. / Downingtown West) went 1-2-3 in the second and managed to escape trouble in the third. With two outs and the bases loaded, he got a flyout to left to get out of the inning. 

Elizabethtown had more success in the fourth, scoring on a fielder's choice and an infield single to make it 5-1. In the fifth, a double to right-center scored two more for the host's and a triple tacked on another as they led 8-1 through five innings.  

In the sixth, Dakotah Snyder (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) hit a two-out double to right-center, and Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) followed with a single to left to pull JC within six.  

In the seventh, Ben Raab (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) led off with a double, Sam Craig (Mullica Hill, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) followed with a single to right-center. Joshua Gery (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottstown Senior High School) singled through the left to score Raab to make it 8-4.  

JC couldn't muster up any more runs, and the Blue Jays scored one more in the bottom half of the eighth on an RBI-double to make it 9-4.

Juniata will take on the loser of Catholic/Elizabethtown, Saturday at 2:30 at Catholic.
