Blue Jays Sweep Eagles on Final Day of the Regular Season

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team dropped their final two games on the road at Elizabethtown, 5-0 and 6-1, on a rainy Sunday at Kevin S. Boyd Stadium that saw the first game delayed by over two hours due to rain.

The Blue Jays pushed three runs across in the first and tallied another in the second to make it 4-0 early.

The Eagles didn't reach first until Dakotah Snyder (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) drew a walk with two outs in the fourth. A sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning made it 5-0 Blue Jays.

Joshua Gery (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottstown Senior High School) had the first hit of the day for JC in the fifth with a single down the right-field line, but JC couldn't muster any runs to narrow the gap as Etown took game one 5-0.

Elizabethtown started game two on the front foot also, striking for two runs in the first and four in the second, highlighted by a three-run triple which made it 6-0 through two innings.

The Eagles managed their lone run in the fourth, with Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) getting on via walk, getting to second on a wild pitch, and eventually scoring on an error by the second baseman as Ben Raab (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) reached first.

The Blue Jays cruised the rest of the way as JC lost game two 6-1.

The Eagles finished the year 12-12, which puts them fifth in the Landmark Conference, cementing the program's best finish since 2011.

The Landmark Conference Tournament begins next weekend, and they will be in a pod with the host, two-seeded Catholic, and will take on three seeded Elizabethtown in game one. The winner of the game takes on Catholic.
