Eagles Split on Second Day With Moravian, Get Christopher His First Win

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team split their two games on the road at Moravian, winning 4-0 before falling 8-1, Sunday afternoon at Gillespie Field on the campus of Moravian College.

The Eagles got to work quickly as Dakotah Snyder (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) doubled to left-center. He advanced to third on Isaac Maclay's strikeout, and Michael Warren (New Berlin, Pa. / Mifflinburg Area) drew a walk. Two batters later, Roberto Barranca (York, Pa. / Calvert Hall (Md.) lined a double to center to score Snyder before being thrown out at third.

In the top half of the sixth, Maclay led off with a single through the left side. Warren singled up the middle and got to second as Maclay got to third on a throwing error. Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) walked before Barranca's single scored Maclay. Sam Craig (Mullica Hill, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) flew out to right, and Warren tagged up before scoring to make it 3-0.

Julius Thomas (Johnstown, Pa. / Ferndale Area High School) cruised through 6.0 innings on the mound for JC; he allowed one hit, three walks, and struck out three.

Luke Pastor (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) came in and got the three-inning save. He allowed one hit, walked two batters, and struck out three.

In the eighth, Swank's RBI-single to center scored Warren following his double to right-center as Juniata blanked the Greyhounds in game one. The win was the first one for Head Coach Pat Christopher.

The second game saw Moravian take control early and never let up as they managed to cross the plate four times in the second and once more in the third and fourth innings to lead 6-0.

JC managed to get on the board in the fifth on Evan Mock's doubled to left, which scored Ryan McClain.

The Greyhounds capitalized on a Juniata error in the sixth to the tune of two more runs as they took the final game of the series, 8-1.

Juniata will be on the road to open next weekend's series with Susquehanna on Saturday. The first pitch is at 12:30.
