Juniata Baseball Teams Up with Vs. Cancer Foundation

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata baseball met with Vs. Cancer Foundation founder Chase Jones during their practice Tuesday afternoon.

Jones, a cancer-survivor and former UNC baseball player, spoke with the team about his personal journey, as well as the impact his foundation and its participating teams have made.

Vs. Cancer was founded in 2012 to provide student-athletes with a platform on which they could make a difference and give back to childhood cancer. Since then, over 100 participating clubs from the youth to professional level have teamed up with the cause.

Eagles players and coaches are currently participating in fundraising efforts with the foundation and have already raised $1,435 of their $5,000 goal.

Half of the money Juniata raises will go to benefit national childhood cancer research and the other half will go to the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Fans can donate online now at team.vs-cancer.org/fundraise/team?ftid=64157

The weekend series against Elizabethtown has been deemed the "Vs. Cancer Series". The Blue Jays, another team partnered with Vs. Cancer, are raising money for the same locations as Juniata. The three-game Landmark Conference series begins Sat. April 9 with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m., followed by a single game Sun. April 10 at noon. The team will also be shaving their heads in support of those battling cancer.
