HUNTINGDON, Pa. – In the final home weekend series of the 2014 season, the Juniata College baseball team will host Drew University in a doubleheader Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday, April 13, at noon. The Eagles are coming off a doubleheader split with Mount Aloysius College during which the team scored 16 runs in 14 innings.

Senior pitcher Nathan Strom (Ebensburg, Pa. / Central Cambria) pitched the game of his career on Wednesday against the Mounties earning the 9-6 win. Strom and the rest of the Juniata pitching staff have amassed a 7.24 earned run average this year led by freshman Eric Grace (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford) with an ERA of 3.86 over 25.2 innings pitched. Junior Chris Fulton (West Chester, Pa / Unionville High School) has served up two complete games, 35.1 total innings, and is holding opposing hitters to a .380 batting average.

Junior Cody Krepps (Tyrone, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis) is driving the Juniata offense, batting .435 on the year. He leads the team in runs batted in (17), is tied for hits (30), ranks second in slugging percentage (.522), total bases (36), doubles (6), walks (5), and is third in runs scored (10). Four Eagles, including Krepps, are batting .300 or better and senior Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J. / Immaculata) tops the team with a .561 slugging percentage.

The Rangers are 8-12 so far this season with a 2-4 league record. Last year Drew finished with an overall record of 18-22 and just missed out on the Landmark Conference postseason tournament with an 8-10 league mark for a fifth place regular season finish. Juniata is 12-6 against the Rangers since the beginning of the Landmark in 2007. The Eagles have dominated the series in Huntingdon, winning seven of the nine games, and earned the 2-1 series win in 2013.

Prior to the singe nine-inning game on Sunday there will be a brief ceremony to honor the seniors of the class of 2014.
