SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata women's track & field team competed in the Paul Kaiser Classic held at Shippensburg University, Saturday.
Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) was the top finisher for the Eagles, she took first in the 3000m run coming in with a time of 10:11.08. Collado broke the Juniata record in the 3000m. Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished 12th with a time of 11:42.74 and Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS) finished 14th with a time of 11:55.30 in the 3000m. Another Eagle top finisher was Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) in the 3000m steeplechase crossing the finish line at 11:43.56. The team of Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin), Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS), Corey Atkinson (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro HS), and Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) placed eighth in the 4x100m relay. In the 4x400m relay, the quartet of Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg), Nichols, Freimuth, and Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bridgeport Central HS) placed ninth.
In the 800m, Alexander finished 12th clocking in at 2:27.34 and Aragon finished 45th with a time of 2:52.05. Walshaw-Wertz placed 23rd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.69. Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) finished 58th in the 100m dash coming in with a time of 16.11. In the 200m dash, Nichols, Freimuth, Atkinson, and Kelly finished 36th (27.72), 52nd (29.32), 63rd (30.72), and 70th (33.79) respectively.
In the long jump, Walshaw-Wertz placed 19th marking 4.99m. In the triple jump, Walshaw-Wertz placed 18th marking 10.39m. In the discus throw, Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) placed 24th marking 32.70m, Kelly Leamer (Altoona, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis H.S.) placed 42nd marking 28.13m while Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) placed 55th marking 20.22m Davignon placed 43rd in the hammer throw, throwing 23.84m. In the javelin, Orndorf placed seventh (36.83m), Suzy Badorf-England (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg High School) placed 26th (29.73m), and Leamer placed 32nd (27.79m). Orndorf placed 22nd marking 10.67m while Davignon placed 44th marking 8.39m in the shot put.
