Women's Track & Field Starts Off New Year at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The women's track and field team started off the new year at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic on Friday, January 19th.

Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) was the Eagle's top finisher in the weight throw with her fifth place finish marking 12.13m. Amily Buenrrostro (Medway, Mass. / Medway HS) (8.66) and Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) (8.46) placed 18th and 19 respectively in the event as well.

In shot put, Orndorf was again the top finisher for the Eagle's, placing 14th. She was followed by Davignon in 20th and Buenrrostro in 26th place. In the long jump, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) placed 15th, she marked 4.23m. 

On the track, Walshaw-Wertz finished 14th in the 60 meter hurdles, coming in with a time of 10.43. Jennifer Roxby (Salix, Pa. / Forest Hills) and Sabrina Kelly (Gilberstville, Pa. / Boyertown Area HS) also competed in the 60 meter hurdles finishing 19th and 24th respectively. The women's distance medley relay finished second just five seconds behind first coming in with a time of 13:15.11. 

In the one mile run, Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished 19th (6:16.06) while Erica Meehan (Amherst, N.H. / Souhegan HS) finished 25th (7:23.77) followed by Elese Christ (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove High) in 26th (7:50.53). In the 800 meter run, Echard finished 18th (2:53.57), Lydia Heishman (Keezletown, Pa. / Spotswood High) finished 21st (3:11.26), and Christ finished 24th (3:32.71). Faith Nichols (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice), Roxby, and Kelly competed in the 200 meter dash finishing 11th, 25th and 28th respectively. 

Finally, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Forest Hills) took top honors in the 3000 meter run coming in with a time of 11:12.74, while Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) finished just behind her with a time of 11:14.71. Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS) finished 11th (12:28.91). 

The Eagles return to action January 26th and 27th. They will be competing in the Bison Open & Multi at Bucknell.
