Women's Tennis Receives ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, AZ. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2019-20 Academic Team along with the ITA Scholar-Athletes. The Juniata women's tennis team received the team award along with six players being named Scholar-Athletes. In 2020, 1058 Division III Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 175 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year

Kelley Appow (Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township), Emily Dowler (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton), Mary Fairfield (Staunton, Va. / Eastern Mennonite HS), Emma Kramer (Chalfont, Pa. / Pennridge), Kady Lohr (Shanksville, Pa.) and Emily Sarro (Woodside, Pa. / Dallastown) were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
