SCRANTON, Pa. – The women's tennis team fell to the University of Scranton 8-1 in conference competition today.
In doubles play, all three of the Juniata pairs dropped their matches. Lauren Lucas (Holidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area HS) and Savannah Bailey (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) fought a tough battle but ultimately fell 8-6.
Lucas lost a tight match to Julia Frattaroli in a super tiebreaker in first singles. Vienna Cordier (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) went to three sets with Nastashia DeNunzio and won in another super tiebreaker 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 in second singles.
The loss puts the Eagles' overall record at 2-5 and 0-4 in conference competition.
The team travels to Susquehanna on Tues. April 25 for another conference matchup at 3:00 PM.
