TOWSON, Md.- Juniata men's track and field athlete Barrett Walters earned Landmark Athlete of the Week honors for Field Events for the first time this season following his event win in the weight throw that saw him set a new Juniata program record in the process.
Walters threw 15.65 meters on his last attempt in the finals of the weight throw to win at this weekend's Susquehanna Tuneup ahead of the Landmark Conference Track and Field Championships this weekend. He had previously set a 14.96-meter mark at last year's Landmark Championships, the program's second-best mark up to that point. With his throw Saturday, he moved past the 15.39 mark set by Andrew Paterno at the 2017 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Walters also threw in the shot put at the SU Tuneup, finishing in 13th place with a mark of 11.37 meters.
The Juniata men's track and field team competes again at this Saturday's Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Susquehanna University.
