Walters, Riddle Earn Event Wins; Walters Breaks School Weight Throw Record at SU Tuneup

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team earned a pair of event wins at the Susquehanna Tuneup on Saturday, as Barrett Walters won the weight throw and set a new school record, while Lincoln Riddle earned gold in the 400 meters. 

Barrett Walters earned the event win in the weight throw with a mark of 15.65 meters on his final attempt in finals to set Juniata's new indoor program record. His previous best mark was 14.96 meters, set at last year's Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He moves past Andrew Paterno's mark of 15.39 meters set at 2017's Landmark Indoor Championships. 

Logan Hackenberg also threw in the event, finishing in 23rd place with a mark of 8.55 meters. 

Lincoln Riddle was the best of 27 competing in the 400 meters, as he finished in 24.75, his best time this season. His previous best time of the year of 24.91 was set at the Blue and White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall two weeks ago.  

Colson Lewis continued his strong 60-meter form, finishing in second place in the final with a time of 7.09. Isaiah Huffstutler, Ivan Foreman, and Korre Rider also raced in the 60 meters. Huffstutler was 19th with a time of 7.41, Foreman was 36th with a time of 7.75, and Rider's 60-meter debut earned him 44th with a time of 8.99. 

Caleb Massare, Riddle, Huffstutler, and Foreman each raced in the 200 meters. Riddle had the team's best time, and he set a personal record in the process. He was 11th with a time of 23.81. His previous best time was 24.79, which he set at the 2023 Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh. Huffstutler set a PR in 20th place with a time of 24.43. His previous best time was 24.69, which he set at the Mini-Dip Invitational at Franklin & Marshall in January. Massare had a season-best time of 24.75 to earn 25th place, while Foreman was in 37th with a time of 26.07.  

Gavin Robb's first collegiate pole vault mark of 3.50 meters earned him seventh place.  

Rider and Massare also competed in jumping events, with each logging a long jump mark. Massare set a new personal record of 5.90 meters to earn ninth place. His previous best mark was set earlier this month at Franklin & Marshall, a mark of 5.71 meters. Rider was unable to register a mark, and he also fouled out in the triple jump. 

Throwers Walters and Hackenberg also competed in the shot put. Walters was 13th with a mark of 11.37 meters, while Hackenberg finished in 35th place with a mark of 7.56 meters. 

Robb, Augie Secco, and Ellis Kline each raced in the 800 meters. Secco had the team's best time at 2:21.59, which earned him 30th place. Robb set a personal best time of 2:24.29 to earn 34th place. His previous best was set at F&M two weeks ago, a time of 2:30.16. Kline was 35th with a time of 2:35.51.  

Secco and Kline also set mile times. Secco finished in 4:58.86, which earned him 15th place. Kline set a personal best time of 5:24.19 to earn 21st place. His previous best time was 5:28.30, which he set at last year's Susquehanna Tuneup.  

The 4X200 meter relay team of Huffstutler, Massare, Lewis, and Riddle set the team's first time of the season ahead of conference championships next week, finishing in fourth place with a time of 1:36.18.
